"When I decided to start the health counseling program, I was at a point where I was fed up with food. I found eating a waste of time. My meals consisted mainly of microwaveable meals, or leftovers from having eaten out. I found eating a chore. The cooking I did consisted mainly of just spaghetti.
After having worked with Hannah for just a couple weeks, I found myself caring more about food, and looked forward to cooking. I was a complete novice at cooking, but Hannah walked me through a few easy recipes, and soon enough, eating become a wonderful experience. I enjoyed flavors once again. Hannah’s knowledge of food and nutrition is amazing. Her enthusiasm was infectious. I found myself being more thoughtful of what I was putting into my body, and enjoying the benefits of eating well.
It’s amazing how sometimes you aren’t aware of just how bad you feel until you start feeling better. I had suffered for years with a stomach pain in my abdomen. (What I say next is by no means advice to not listen to physicians. I go to them as needed.) Physicians had previously suggested antacid tablets. But I’ve never been a fan of living on pills. After listing my daily caffeine intake, Hannah strongly recommended I work my way down to cutting out caffeine. Well, I resisted at first, but as a little more time went on and I became more tuned in with how my body was feeling, there came the day when I felt I needed to stop drinking coffee. I do enjoy warm liquids so I stuck to herbal teas for a few days, as well as cutting out sodas. After a few days, the persistent stomach discomfort faded away. I do still enjoy a cup of coffee, but I also notice much more when my body has had enough and I am able to pinpoint the culprit. It is an empowering feeling.
The second half of the health counseling program involved dealing with the emotional aspects of life. Hannah is a great listener and very insightful. She was able to recommend some great books that helped with my particular set of emotional obstacles. But even more importantly, her sheer willingness to listen, and her non-judgmental approach were of great comfort.
I am extremely satisfied with the whole experience and very much appreciate all the knowledge that Hannah 'fed' me. Though I don’t have children now, I at least feel that this new knowledge will go far in helping to ensure my children will be healthy too, and that is of great comfort also."
